Lucknow, Oct. 17 -- The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court today granted bail to Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Moeed Ahmed, an accused in last year's infamous Ayodhya gang rape case.

The court had previously rejected the accused's bail plea. However, after the testimony of the victim and the plaintiff, he was granted the option to file a fresh bail plea.

The single bench of Justice Pankaj Bhatia issued this order on the accused's bail plea. The accused argued that he had been falsely implicated in the case for political reasons. He is 71 years old, and the victim's statements and the FIR do not mention the exact date and time of the incident.
