Kolhapur, Oct. 14 -- The Kolhapur Circuit Bench of the Bombay High Court today granted bail to prime accused Dr Virendra Tawade and two others in Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Govind Pansare murder case.

Justice Shivkumar Dige granted bail to accused Dr Tawade, Sharad Kalaskar and Amol Kale after being incarcerated for nine years and six months.

Dr Tawade was granted bail in 2018 by the Kolhapur District court but he was lodged in Pune jail for not getting bail in rationalist Dr Narendra Dabholkar murder case.

After his acquittal in Dr Dabholkar murder case on 10 May 2024, Dr Tawade was released from Pune Central Jail. But then, Kolhapur district judge S S Tambe cancelled Dr Tawade 's bail on 16 July, 2024.
