Prayagraj, April 29 -- The Allahabad High Court has given a major relief to Samajwadi Party MP Afzal Ansari in a poll code violation case.
A single bench comprising Justice Vikram D. Chauhan on Wednesday stayed Afzal Ansari's arrest until further orders, granting an interim stay. The High Court will resume hearing on May 13.
A case was filed against Afzal Ansari in 2009 after an FIR was registered at the Mohammadabad police station, charging him with holding a meeting even after the election campaign period ended. After investigation, the police filed a charge sheet in the court.
