Agartala, April 3 -- Tripura High Court has instructed the state government to submit a comprehensive report in three months in response on illegal migration in the territory.
Hearing a PIL was filed by a group led by TIPRA Motha MLA Ranjit Debbarma, the division bench consisting of Chief Justice M S Ramachandra Rao and Justice Biswajit Palit asked the state to provide details on the steps taken to address the concerns referred in the petition.
The petition refers to a directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) that mandates the identification, detention, and deportation of individuals who entered India illegally after March 25, 1971, a date linked to the Bangladesh Liberation War.
