Lucknow, Aug. 21 -- The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has ordered continuation of status quo on the merger of schools in Sitapur till the next hearing scheduled for September 1.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Arun Bhasali and Justice Jaspreet Singh heard the case today.
Petitioner's advocate Gaurav Mehrotra informed the court that orders have been passed to maintain status quo on the merger until the next hearing.
The state government clarified before the bench that schools located less than 1 km apart would not be merged and institutions with more than 50 students would also be exempt. The court directed the government to place the relevant order on record.
