Bengaluru, Sept. 29 -- The Karnataka High Court today refused bail to Syed Praveez Musharaff, accused of facilitating the rape of a 19-year-old girl, invoking both the moral weight of Manusmriti and the enduring words of Mahatma Gandhi to frame its reasoning.
"Yatra naryastu pujyante ramante tatra Devata, yatraitaastu na pujyante sarvaastatrafalaah kriyaah," the bench recited, signifying that where women are honoured, divinity blossoms.
