Bengaluru, Dec. 16 -- : A new legal battle has emerged in Karnataka as an alleged victim in a high-profile Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case has approached the Karnataka High Court, seeking to overturn the recent acquittal of Murugha Mutt seer Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru.

The acquittal was delivered on November 26 by Chitradurga Second Additional District Judge Gangadhar Hadapada, who cleared the seer of allegations relating to the sexual assault of two minor girls residing at the hostel of a mutt-run school.

The trial court also acquitted two co-accused staff members, Rashmi, the hostel warden, and Paramashivaiah, the school secretary, citing insufficient evidence.
