Mumbai, July 7 -- The Bombay High Court on Monday directed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to take a decision to close slaughterhouses in Mumbai for nine days for a prominent Jain festival and also consider such a closure for only a day during Paryushan Parv.

A division bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Sandeep V Marne was hearing public interest litigations (PILs) filed by Sheth Motisha Lalbaug Jain Charities and Sheth Bherulalji Kanaiyalalji Kothari Religious Trust.
