New Delhi, Oct. 29 -- A clear and bright morning today turned into a gloomy afternoon as a hazy veil covered Delhi's skies, reducing visibility across the city. A day after a team from IIT Kanpur attempted to induce artificial rain, Delhiites waited in vain for showers. Not only did the rain elude the city, but the clouds also dispersed, prompting scientists to cancel Wednesday's cloud-seeding plans due to unfavourable weather conditions.

The weather department has forecast mist and haze over Delhi for the next five days during the morning hours with partly cloudy skies.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), in the past 24 hours, north-westerly winds prevailed over the capital with wind speeds gusting up to 10 kmph.
