Baijnath (Kangra), Aug. 18 -- The mortal remains of Havaldar Vikas Bhandari (41) of the Indian Army's Special Forces, a resident of Dayoda village under Sakri Gram Panchayat in Baijnath sub-division, were consigned to flames with full military honours at Mahakal today.
Bhandari, who was posted in the Kupwara sector of Jammu, passed away due to ill health while on duty. His mortal remains were brought to his native village where the funeral took place amid solemn ceremonies.
During the funeral, Army personnel offered a gun salute and the atmosphere reverberated with chants of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and "Vikas Bhandari Amar Rahe".
Baijnath SDM Sankalp Gautam, DSP Anil Sharma, and Tehsildar Raman Thakur were present on the occasion.
