Hathras, July 2 -- The Hathras stampede incident in Uttar Pradesh which saw 121 people, mostly women and children, crushed to death, completes one year today, but the main reason is yet to be established while the people responsible for the loss of lives remain unpunished.
On July 2 last year, a stampede occurred at the conclusion of the satsang of Surajpal Baba alias Narayan Hari Sakar, about six kilometers from Sikandararau. 121 people died in the accident, while more than 250 people were injured.
With all 11 accused free on bail, despite there being 676 witnesses, the debate still rages as to who is exactly responsible for the tragedy. In the meantime, the case has consumed 31 court dates.
