Chandigarh, April 23 -- The Haryana State Election Commission has issued a fresh clarification regarding the eligibility criteria for reservation benefits in municipal elections, explicitly stating that individuals belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC) or Backward Classes (BC) 'A' and 'B' categories from other states are not entitled to such benefits within Haryana.

According to an official spokesperson, the Commission had been receiving numerous inquiries from various districts seeking guidance on whether out-of-state caste certificates could be used for electoral reservations.
