Chandigarh, Dec. 3 -- The Haryana government has officially renamed the state's Raj Bhavan as Lok Bhavan, with the change coming into effect from December 1.
Governor Asim Ghosh issued the notification, confirming that the new name will now be used for all administrative and official purposes.
According to a formal order released by the Governor's Secretary, IAS Dushmanta Kumar Behera, the decision follows a directive from the union Ministry of Home Affairs. The communication from the Centre stated that the term "Raj Bhavan" reflects a colonial-era identity, and therefore, the premises will now be addressed as Lok Bhavan (Chandigarh).
With this change, Haryana becomes the tenth state in the country to adopt the "Lok Bhavan" nomenclature....
