Chandigarh, Dec. 22 -- Haryana officially became a 23-district state on Monday with the issuance of a government notification carving out Hansi as a separate district, leading to a reorganisation of Hisar district's administrative boundaries.

The notification, issued by Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner Dr Sumita Misra, states that the Governor of Haryana has exercised powers under relevant provisions of the Registration Act, 1908, and the Haryana Land Revenue Act, 1887, to alter the territorial limits and sub-divisional structure of Hisar district for the creation of the new Hansi district.
