Chandigarh, Dec. 10 -- Healthcare services across Haryana came under strain on Tuesday as government doctors launched an indefinite strike, demanding long-pending reforms, including direct recruitment of Senior Medical Officers (SMOs) and approval of their Assured Career Progression (ACP) benefits.

The agitation escalated in Panchkula, where protesting doctors sat on a hunger strike outside the Directorate of Health Services.

The move follows a two-day strike on December 8 and 9, after which talks with the government failed to materialise, prompting the Haryana Civil Medical Services Association (HCMSA) to intensify its protest.
