Chandigarh, Dec. 8 -- Government hospitals across Haryana witnessed disruptions on the first day of a two-day strike called by state doctors over unresolved service-related demands, including objections to direct recruitment of Senior Medical Officers (SMOs).

The strike, which began on Monday, immediately affected outpatient services in several districts.

In Panchkula Civil Hospital, many doctors were absent from their cabins even after OPD hours began at 9 a.m., causing long queues of patients. Temporary assistance from two doctors brought in from Mulana Medical College helped keep the medicine OPD operational.

Similar scenes were reported in Sonipat and Bahadurgarh, where patients struggled to access routine care.
