Chandigarh, Feb. 11 -- In a significant move to curb the distribution of substandard agricultural inputs, the Punjab Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department has initiated legal action against a Haryana-based firm for the unauthorized storage and sale of fertilizers and insecticides.

The firm, identified as "M/s Unitech Crop Science," is based in Jhajjar, Haryana, but was operating a storage facility in the Malerkotla district of Punjab.

Punjab Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian stated that the irregularities were uncovered during a surprise inspection conducted by department officials at the firm's premises.
