Chandigarh, Nov. 1 -- Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains today strongly condemned the Centre's reported decision to dissolve the 59-year-old Senate and Syndicate of Panjab University, terming it a direct assault on the state's pride, autonomy and democratic ethos.

Bains described the move as "political vandalism" rather than governance, accusing the BJP-led Central government of undermining Punjab's academic freedom and constitutional rights. He said the unilateral action strikes at the heart of Punjab's intellectual legacy.
