Chandigarh, Nov. 3 -- Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has been re-elected as the President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for the fifth consecutive term.
Dhami, the nominee of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), secured 117 votes, defeating Akali Dal (Punar Surjeet) candidate Mithu Singh, who received 18 votes by a margin of 99 votes.
Alongside Dhami's victory, Raghujit Singh Virk was elected as Senior Vice President, Baldev Singh as Junior Vice President, and Sher Singh Mand as General Secretary of the SGPC.
The election began with Dhami proposing to conduct the process through a show of hands, but the request was declined, leading to a formal voting procedure.
