Hyderabad, June 15 -- Former Minister and senior BRS leader T Harish Rao has written a letter to Telangana Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, extending support and congratulating him for opposing the Centre's approval of the preliminary report on the controversial Godavari-Banakacherla Link Project proposed by the Andhra Pradesh government.

Harish Rao pointed out that under the provisions of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, any new irrigation project must first secure approvals from the Godavari and Krishna River Management Boards and then from the Apex Council.

He alleged that the Andhra Pradesh government is proceeding unilaterally on the project without informing either Telangana or the statutory boards.
