Gaza City, Oct. 9 -- Senior Hamas official Mahmoud Mardawi has cautioned that its prevailing differences with Israel over the release of certain Palestinian prisoners, could potentially sabotage the ongoing mediations.

"It seems Netanyahu is trying to sabotage the ceasefire agreement before its implementation, by reneging on prisoner release lists in an attempt to derail the understandings," he wrote on X.

Mardawi alleged that the lack of agreement on the prisoners exposes Israel's unreliability regarding troop withdrawals, reconstruction and the reopening of crossings in and out of the Strip, even as both parties were able to settle on the first phase of the 20-point-initiative proposed by the US.
