Srinagar, Sept. 25 -- union Minister Jitendra Singh today said the recent GST relief announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought a "double discount" to the people of Kashmir, benefiting both traders and consumers ahead of the festive season.
Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh was speaking to reporters after visiting Polo View Market in Srinagar, where he interacted with traders, shopkeepers, and locals. He was accompanied by BJP J&K spokesman Altaf Thakur.
Singh said Kashmir's world-renowned garment and handicraft industry would gain significantly from the move, while tourists visiting the Valley would also benefit. He noted that several local shopkeepers had voluntarily offered an additional 1% discount to customers.
