Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 21 -- The Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate revisions announced at the 56th meeting of the GST Council on September 3 will come into effect in Kerala from September 22, following the issuance of state notifications.

According to the State Goods and Services Tax Department, the revised rates cover a wide range of goods and services, with reductions expected on several essential and commonly used items. The Council has assessed that the move will help reduce the tax burden on daily-use commodities, thereby benefiting consumers.

Traders and service providers have been directed to update their billing software to incorporate the revised tax rates and issue invoices accordingly from September 22.
