GST rate cuts eased burden on 140 cr people : Nirmala

Chennai, Sept. 14 -- Accusing the Opposition parties of misleading thepeople by spreading false information about GST rate cuts, union FinanceMinister Nirmala Sitharaman today said the recent GST rate rationalisation,bringing it down from four slabs to two slabs of five per cent and 18 per cent,has eased the burder on 140 crore people in the country.

Speaking at a Joint Conclave of Trade and Industries Association on 'Tax Reformsfor Rising Bharat", organised by vrious Industry chambers like CII, FICCI, SICCI,HCC, TEXPROCIL and others here, she said the GST rate cut has eased the burdenof the people, reduced their expenses and helped in more savings.
