Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 22 -- The Kerala State Goods and Services Tax (GST) Department has clarified that the GST rate applicable to lotteries will be 40 per cent with effect from today.
The clarification came following reports in a section of the media which incorrectly suggested that the earlier rate of 28 per cent would continue.
The Department stated that the revision was notified through the Central Government's Notification dated September 17, 2025, along with a corresponding State Government Notification. As per these notifications, the revised 40 per cent GST rate will be in force from today.
