Mumbai, Sept. 5 -- The recent Goods and Services Tax reforms removing taxes on essential stationery items have brought significant relief to students and families across India.

The GST Council, chaired by union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, announced on September three that pencils, erasers, notebooks, graph books, crayons, and maps will become completely tax-free from September 22.

Dr Meena Chintamaneni, Pro-Vice Chancellor at NMIMS University, has welcomed these reforms as a meaningful step towards making education more accessible.
