Amroha, Dec. 20 -- Amroha district in UP has come under the scanner after the GST department uncovered a massive tax evasion racket involving bogus Input Tax Credit (ITC) claims worth more than Rs 822.16 crore.
Although the police have not yet registered an FIR in the case, shocking revelations have emerged during the departmental investigation.
Mahesh Chandra, Deputy Commissioner, Commercial Tax Department, stated that complaints have been submitted for lodging FIRs against eight firms involved in GST evasion. "The registrations of these firms have already been cancelled. No firms were found at the given locations, and the mobile numbers of the owners were also inactive," he said.
