Bengaluru, July 23 -- Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today called for a constructive and measured dialogue with small traders and industry stakeholders to address the confusion surrounding the issuance of GST-related tax notices by the state's Commercial Taxes Department.
Speaking to reporters, Siddaramaiah clarified that around 9,000 notices were issued to traders whose annual turnover exceeds Rs 30 lakh. "These notices were based on the central government's decision to collect a 1% tax from such traders. Acting on that directive, our Commercial Taxes Department issued them," he explained.
