New Delhi, Feb. 1 -- Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections recorded a steady and encouraging rise in January 2026, reflecting continued economic momentum and improved tax collections.

Gross GST revenue for the month rose to Rs 1.93 lakh crore, marking a 6.2 per cent increase compared to January last year.

Domestic transactions remained the backbone of collections. Gross domestic GST revenue stood at Rs 1.41 lakh crore, growing 4.8 per cent year-on-year, supported by higher inflows from CGST, SGST and IGST.

At the same time, GST collected on imports showed stronger growth, with import-related revenue rising by over 10 per cent, indicating sustained trade activity.
