New Delhi, April 7 -- A 23-year-old accused of shooting a 48-year-old farmer was arrested following an encounter in Greater Noida's Dankaur, officials said on Tuesday.
According to the information, the encounter took place near the Khajur Baba underpass. The accused, identified as Azam, sustained a gunshot injury to his leg when the police retaliated.
A senior police official said that Azam opened fire on a police team while attempting to flee.
The police retaliated in self-defense, injuring him before taking him into custody.
"He was wanted in a firing incident a day earlier, in which a 48-year-old farmer was shot while working in his field and is currently undergoing treatment," the police officer said.
