Bengaluru, March 10 -- The Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Monday passed the Greater Bengaluru Governance Bill, paving the way for administrative restructuring in the city.
The bill, introduced by the Congress-led government, aims to enhance governance and service delivery in Bengaluru, which has a population nearing 1.5 crores. However, the move has triggered a political storm, with the BJP strongly opposing it.
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar defended the bill, stating that it was not about dividing Bengaluru but about improving its governance structure.
