Mumbai, Aug. 22 -- The central and state governments have jointly taken responsibility for the care of working mothers' children and, under the guidance of Women and Child Welfare Minister Aditi Tatkare, are set to launch a creche scheme.

Under this plan, the state will contribute 60 percent and the Centre 40 percent. The scheme will provide creche facilities for children aged six months to six years of working women. Infants will be cared for through play-based activities, while children aged three to six will receive pre-primary education modeled on a kindergarten system.

The creche will offer a nutritious breakfast, a wholesome lunch, and evening snacks such as milk, eggs, and bananas.
