New Delhi, Dec. 16 -- The government on Wednesday said it has taken various measures to curb the production, trafficking of synthetic drugs and to counter drug abuse. These measures include notification of 18 new precursor chemicals used in the manufacture of synthetic drugs, in Schedule B and C of Regulation of Controlled Substances (RCS) Order on January 23, 2025. The number of controlled substances has now been updated to 45.

This was stated in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha by Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs Nityanand Rai.
