Govt positive about giving diesel refund to fishermen: Maha minister
Mumbai, March 6 -- Asserting that the Maharashtra government is positive about providing necessary help to fishermen, Fisheries Minister Nitesh Rane said on Thursday in the state Assembly that fishermen who are engaged in fishing business will be given 100 percent refund of their diesel as per the rules.
Speaking during the question hour in the lower house, he said that a fund of Rs 119.98 crore has been distributed to fishermen for diesel refund till December 2024.
The minister said that fisheries being an employment generating business, the government is firmly behind solving the problems of fishermen.
On February 28, 2025, a proposal has been submitted to the Finance Department to provide pending diesel refund, he informed.
