Guwahati, Feb. 3 -- The union government has plans to connect Northeast India with West Bengal through an underground railway tracks encompassing the Chicken Neck corridor, revealed Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw today.

While addressing reporters at the NFR headquarters at Maligaon in Guwahati through a video conference on the union Budget allocation for the Railway Ministry, he said, "There is special planning for the 40-kms strategic corridor connecting the northeast with the rest of the country."The Siliguri Corridor that connects India's northeast with mainland India is referred to as Chicken Neck.
