New Delhi, Jan. 31 -- In a move to boost innovation, knowledge, and public service enhancement, the Centre on Friday expanded Aadhaar authentication to both government and private entities with the notification of the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance (Social Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Amendment Rules, 2025.

"These rules have been notified by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) under the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits, and Services) Act, 2016," the Ministry said in a statement.

The amendment aims to improve transparency and inclusivity in the decision-making process.
