New Delhi, Dec. 3 -- India has tightened labelling norms for pan masala, requiring manufacturers to print retail prices and other mandatory declarations on every pack size from next year, the government said on Wednesday.
The Department of Consumer Affairs has notified the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Second (Amendment) Rules, 2025 , removing long-standing exemptions for small packets of the widely consumed chewable product.
The amended rules, issued by the government , will take effect on February 1, 2026.
