Bengaluru, July 20 -- In a significant development, the Karnataka government today constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by senior IPS officer Pranab Mohanty to probe the decades-old Dharmasthala case, which has seen repeated allegations and mounting public pressure for justice.
Welcoming the decision, Karnataka State Women's Commission Chairperson Nagalakshmi Choudhary said the formation of the SIT was long overdue and expressed satisfaction that the government has finally acted.
"The state had to take a call on this. Though delayed, the constitution of the SIT is a welcome step. We appreciate the government's response," she told reporters.
