New Delhi, March 18 -- The government said on Wednesday that the Advertising Code strictly prohibits misleading claims, unsafe portrayal of children and violations of Advertising Standards Council of India norms, while a statutory three-tier grievance redressal mechanism ensures effective and time-bound handling of complaints related to broadcast content.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said it has issued advisories and taken action against violations, directing media platforms to refrain from carrying advertisements of online betting platforms and their surrogate products.
