Kannur, July 25 -- Govindachami, who escaped from Kannur Central Jail, was apprehended today.
A convict in the brutal case where a young woman was raped and murdered after being pushed out of a train, Govindachami was found hiding inside a well on private property in Thalapp.
Police dramatically pulled him out and later shifted him to the Kannur Police Training Centre.
He had been serving a life sentence at Kannur Central Jail when he escaped.
Following the incident, three prison officers were suspended. His original death sentence had earlier been commuted to life imprisonment by the Supreme Court.
His escape came to light during a morning inspection of the prison cell. He was last seen inside the jail the previous day. He reportedl...
