Bengaluru, Sept. 16 -- Karnataka Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Priyank Kharge today said there was nothing unusual about Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot's decision to return the Bill seeking to reduce buffer zones around lakes, adding that the government was ready to provide clarifications and justify the proposal.

Reacting to reports that the Governor had sent back the Karnataka Lake Conservation and Development Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2025, Kharge said the Constitution empowered the Governor to seek clarifications before granting assent, and the government was prepared to respond.
