Ranchi, Aug. 15 -- Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar hoisted the national flag at Ranchi's Morabadi Ground on the 79th Independence Day, reiterating the state government's commitment to development, law and order, and welfare initiatives. Breaking tradition, the Governor presided over the state-level Independence Day ceremony in Ranchi instead of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who was occupied with the shraddh karma of his father, former Chief Minister Shibu Soren. Traditionally, the Governor hoists the flag in Dumka, but this year the divisional commissioner did so in his place.
