Ranchi, Jan. 6 -- Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Tuesday directed that the Jharkhand War Memorial at Dipatoli be developed as a major tourist destination and reiterated that the welfare of ex-servicemen and dependents of martyrs must remain a top priority.

The governor said this while chairing the 17th Managing Committee meeting of the Directorate of Sainik Welfare at Lok Bhavan.

The Governor emphasised that issues related to veterans and martyrs' families should be handled with utmost sensitivity under all circumstances.

He also stressed the development of the ancestral village of Param Vir Chakra awardee martyr Lance Naik Albert Ekka as a model village and expressed his intent to visit the village at the earliest.
