Ranchi, Dec. 18 -- : Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar has given assent to the Jharkhand Platform-Based Gig Workers (Registration and Welfare) Bill, 2025, providing legal backing to welfare measures for platform-based delivery and service workers in the state.
The Act, passed by the Assembly during the monsoon session, provides for the constitution of a Gig Workers' Welfare Board with its headquarters in Ranchi. The state labour minister will be its ex officio chairperson. The board will oversee registration of gig workers and aggregators and frame social security schemes.
