Kolkata, Oct. 6 -- In the wake of devastating landslides and flooding triggered by incessant rains in North Bengal, Governor C V Ananda Bose is rushing to Darjeeling today to be with the victims.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is also heading to North Bengal this afternoon, accompanied by Chief Secretary Manoj Pant and senior officials.

Raj Bhavan sources confirmed that the Governor, who cut short his outstation tour, is expected to arrive by noon.

The calamity has claimed several lives and left a trail of destruction across the hills, damaging roads, bridges, and homes. Low-lying areas are submerged, while many regions remain cut off due to broken connectivity. Relief camps have been set up to shelter displaced families.
