Machilipatnam, Aug. 9 -- Andhra Pradesh Minister for Mines and Excise Kollu Ravindra today said that the State Government has allocated Rs 7,557 crore for the welfare of tribal people and assured of extending all the required help to them through the ITDA.

A programme was organized here to mark the International Tribal Day.

Speaking on occasion, the Minister Kollu Ravindra lamented that even today, the tribal people use slings to take patients to hospital from their habitats.

"The Maoist threat has become a hurdle to construct roads to the tribal habitations," the Minister claimed.

He emphasized the need of laying more focus on the uplift and welfare of tribal people.
