Lucknow, May 4 -- A 12.5-foot statue of Goswami Tulsidas, crafted from Ashtadhatu (a traditional alloy of eight metals), will be installed in Rajapur, the poet's birthplace in Chitrakoot district here in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said on Sunday.
The Minister said that the statue, created by Jaipur-based sculptor Raj Kumar, is part of the Tourism Department's major initiative to promote spiritual and cultural tourism in the sacred land of Lord Ram.
He said the department is actively developing Rajapur into a key tourism hub, with new facilities including an open-air theatre, interpretation centre, audio-visual center, library, cafe area and restoration of the Tulsidas temple.
