Gorakhpur, Jan. 6 -- Four masked robbers carried out a robbery at the house of a retired lekhpal in the AIIMS police station area on Monday evening, looting cash and jewellery worth around Rs 52 lakh.
The incident occurred around 7 pm near Rajhi Maurya Chauraha. The accused entered the house after the victim, Balendra Singh (70), opened the door, thinking it was the milkman. One of the robbers allegedly held a pistol to his head while the others entered the house.
The robbers threatened the family members at gunpoint, assaulted the elderly man when he raised an alarm, and locked everyone in a room. They later forced the family to hand over the keys to the almirahs by threatening Singh's two grandsons.
