Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 20 -- The Congress-led UDF in the Kerala Legislative Assembly today staged a walkout, with Leader of the Opposition V. D. Satheesan alleging that the proposed "Ayyappa Sangamam" was being organised to divert attention from the theft of gold belonging to the Lord Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala.
Talking to newspersons after leading the walkout, Satheesan said the adjournment motion moved by the UDF earlier in the day on the disappearance of nearly 4 kg of gold from Sabarimala was denied discussion.
He alleged that the gold went missing when the gold-plated Dwarapalaka idols of the hill shrine, which had been sent to Chennai for repair, were returned.
