Pune, Nov. 13 -- National President of India Against Corruption and the OBC Ekjoot Parishad- Hemant Patil said that some so-called elements have tried to ignite a conflict between the OBC and Maratha communities in the state over the issue of reservation.
In order to bridge the gap that has developed between the two communities, political parties should ensure proper political representation for members of both OBC and Maratha communities in the upcoming local self-government elections, Patil appealed here on Wednesday.
He said that maintaining unity between these two major social groups - with OBCs constituting over 37% and Marathas over 28% of the state's population - is crucial for Maharashtra's social stability.
